Is my phone eSIM-compatible?

Most recent phones support eSIM, but the exact model, country version and carrier lock all matter. Check your own device before buying.

The quickest check

On iPhone, open Settings → General → About and look for EID, or open Settings → Mobile Service and look for Add eSIM. On Android, search Settings for “eSIM”, “SIM manager” or “Add eSIM”. If EID or an Add eSIM option appears, the phone normally supports eSIM.

iPhone guidance

Apple supports eSIM on iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and later models, but country versions differ. Some iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macao use different SIM options. Check for EID on the exact phone instead of relying only on the model name.

Android guidance

Google says every Pixel 4 or later supports eSIM. Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a support depends on where and from which carrier the phone was bought. Many recent Samsung Galaxy S, Z Flip and Z Fold phones also support eSIM, but Samsung availability varies by country, carrier and exact model. For Motorola, Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Sony and other Android phones, check the manufacturer's specification for the exact model number and confirm that Settings offers Add eSIM.

Carrier lock and regional versions

An eSIM-capable phone can still reject a travel eSIM when it is locked to a mobile carrier. The same model name may also have different hardware by country. Confirm that the phone is unlocked and use the EID or Add eSIM check above instead of relying only on a model list.

Before you travel

Update the phone, keep a reliable Wi-Fi connection for installation and open the delivery email on another screen if you need to scan its QR code. The order page and delivery email also include one-tap installation buttons when the device and eSIM support them.
